It doesn't look like it on the map but it is indeed an island, surrounded by water and impassable marshland. Over the years, the island has grown from a remote rural area into an exurb of the greater Hampton Roads area. Residents have the experience of country living but there's no mistaking that the rest of the world is slowly moving in. One mom-and-pop general store is now under threat from a corporate box store. The once all-volunteer fire department now has full-time EMT staff. And houses have been springing up over the years on farmland that once had corn and soybeans springing up. There's still a lot of hunting and fishing, boating, outdoors activities, and beer drinking going on. We'll keep that alive and well on this page. This page is a snapshot of the old site, Knotts Island Online Dot Com.  That was the original and unofficially official web site for the island for nearly two decades. Social media and ambitious web masters pushed it slowly into the dust bin of history. Have a look around.
